Sports and Regenerative Medicine

Sports practice, whether professional or recreational, exposes the musculoskeletal system to repetitive loads, overuse, and acute trauma. In our unit, we treat sports injuries with a multidisciplinary, evidence-based approach, using cutting-edge therapeutic options, including regenerative medicine and orthobiology.

Intra-articular Corticosteroids
Used in acute or subacute inflammatory processes. They have a powerful anti-inflammatory effect on synovitis, bursitis, or arthritic flare-ups, though repeated use may affect cartilage health.
Indicated for: Synovitis, painful osteoarthritis, reactive tendinopathies.

Biological Injections

In the past decade, injections have evolved from symptomatic treatments to biologically active therapies capable of modulating inflammation, stimulating tissue regeneration, and slowing degenerative joint disease. We apply these treatments with a personalized and scientifically validated protocol.

Hyaluronic Acid: More than a Lubricant

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural polysaccharide found in synovial fluid, acting as a shock absorber and lubricant. It ensures smooth joint motion, modulates inflammation, and protects cartilage.
In osteoarthritis or patellofemoral friction syndrome, the concentration and viscosity of HA decrease, worsening inflammation and wear. Intra-articular HA injections (viscosupplementation) restore this function.
Clinical evidence shows:
✅ Pain relief (similar to NSAIDs, but without systemic side effects)
✅ Improved joint function (especially knee, ankle, shoulder)
✅ Slowed progression in early-stage osteoarthritis
✅ Enhanced results when combined with PRP
HA formulations vary by:
Molecular weight (higher weights last longer)
Number of doses (single-shot vs. 3–5 doses)
Viscoinductive effect: stimulation of natural HA production
Common indications:
Mild to moderate OA (knee, hip, ankle, shoulder)
Patellofemoral syndrome in young athletes
Grade I–II cartilage lesions
Post-traumatic joint damage
Benefits:
Excellent safety profile
Outpatient, minimally invasive procedure
Repeatable every 6–12 months
Contraindications: Active joint infection, known allergy (rare), unresolved hemarthrosis

PRP – Platelet-Rich Plasma: Regeneration from Your Own Blood

PRP is one of the most promising tools in regenerative medicine. It’s derived from your own blood and processed to concentrate platelets and bioactive growth factors:
PDGF – Platelet-derived growth factor
TGF-β – Transforming growth factor beta
VEGF – Vascular endothelial growth factor
IGF-1 – Insulin-like growth factor
These factors stimulate cell repair, controlled angiogenesis, collagen synthesis, and inflammation resolution.
Scientific evidence:
High effectiveness in chronic tendinopathies (tennis elbow, jumper’s knee, Achilles)
Shortened recovery in acute muscle injuries (Grade II)
Sustained improvement in early-stage knee OA (up to 12 months)
Clinical indications:
Lateral epicondylitis
Chronic patellar tendinopathy
Achilles tendinosis
Grade II muscle injuries
Grade I–II OA of knee, ankle, shoulder
How it works:
Blood draw (10–20 ml)
Sterile centrifugation to isolate platelets
Injection into the target tissue
24–48h of relative rest, then guided rehab
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injection for tendon and joint regeneration ✅ PRP benefits:
Autologous product (no rejection or disease risk)
May delay or prevent surgery
Improves quality of life in active patients
Enhances rehab outcomes

⚠️ Contraindications:
Active infection
Coagulation disorders
Severe anemia or use of anticoagulants
Active autoimmune disease

Our Philosophy: Responsible Regenerative Medicine

We don’t offer “one-size-fits-all” solutions. Each patient receives:
Personalized evaluation and diagnosis
Tailored biological treatment selection
Functional monitoring
Progressive load and exercise guidance
We combine science, ethics, and experience to deliver safe, effective, and medically justified regenerative therapies.

Why Choose Me for Your Injections?

In a world where joint injections are offered almost everywhere, my approach stands out:
Grounded in surgical experience, clinical judgment, and precision.

Proven Experience

I’m an orthopedic surgeon with international training. I treat real patients with sports injuries, osteoarthritis, tendinopathies, and chronic pain — not just protocol-based cases.

Meaningful Treatment

HA to restore joint motion and relieve pain in early arthritis
PRP to regenerate tendons, muscles, and cartilage
Corticosteroids for acute inflammation
Treatment is always based on your diagnosis, activity level, and goals.

🤝 True Medical Care
From the first consultation to follow-up, I’m fully involved. A well-indicated injection can change your outcome. A poorly indicated one can worsen it.

It’s not just about injecting — it’s about knowing when, how, and why.
